Leslie Rothenberg Joins Gallery Wendi Norris as New York-Based Director

Since changing its gallery business model in 2017, Gallery Wendi Norris has created offsite exhibitions around the world. Now, in an expansion of that model, the gallery is appointing a director based in New York.

September 1, 2023: Responding to the needs of her global client base with a bold expansion of her gallery business model, Wendi Norris announced today that she has appointed Leslie Rothenberg as a Director to represent Gallery Wendi Norris in New York City.

"I am delighted to welcome Leslie to the gallery team.  Leslie embodies the cultural values instilled in my gallery — accessibility, professionalism, and knowledgeability. I am thrilled to expand the gallery's presence and provide increased access to our treasured clients and artists."

Rothenberg will begin her appointment September 1, 2023, in anticipation of Gallery Wendi Norris’s offsite exhibition in New York, Alice Rahon and Ranu Mukherjee: Time Warriors, opening September 6, 2023.

From its headquarters in San Francisco, Gallery Wendi Norris mounts offsite exhibitions around the world where and when they are relevant for her artists. When she launched this business model in 2017, Norris was responding to trends she was seeing in the real estate markets in major art centers around the world. She understood that a gallery no longer needs to be tied to one location, and in fact, increasingly, to succeed, a gallery needs to be nimble and to work with collectors and artists in a more focused and flexible way, wherever they live.

Within a year of its inception, this new way of working proved visionary, and now, with the appointment of a Director in New York City to augment its San Francisco based team, the gallery is again responding to the needs of its artists and collectors to support them in new ways.

Rothenberg comes to Gallery Wendi Norris from New York's DC Moore Gallery, where she served as associate director, cultivating collectors, curating exhibitions, and managing gallery artists. She previously held positions at David Zwirner New York, focusing on sales and artist management, and Christie’s New York in the Photographs department. Rothenberg received her BA Cum Laude in Art History from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC, and an MA in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.
