We are thrilled to announce our participation in The Art Show, 2022. We will present a solo booth featuring a curated selection of large-scale photographs by Austrian artist Eva Schlegel.

Schlegel photographs human figures and undefined, interior architectural spaces. Limiting her color palette to only one or two hues and blurring her images during the development process, she creates a sense of lush privacy that is both profoundly strange and oddly familiar. Viewers are left with an intuition that somewhere, in some long-forgotten past, they once walked through Schlegel’s interior spaces. Never having met the nameless subjects of Schlegel’s portraiture, one feels likewise familiar with their bodies, the bend of their arms and the curve of their legs. These are photographs that reveal secrets we had forgotten we keep. 

Schlegel’s pictures capture the unique conditions of solitude under which human relationships have been unfolding for several decades and that have gained specific, material expression over the last two years. Schlegel’s human figures are isolated forever in space; her architectural spaces remain eternally empty of human bodies. Her photographs are exquisitely intimate, thick with longing and desire. They are at the same time embodiments of isolation and solitude.

The Art Show will be the first solo art fair presentation for Schlegel in the United States, following decades of institutional and commercial accomplishments throughout Europe.

The fair will take place from November 2-6, 2022
